A few friends and I are trying to set up a space at the University of Sheffield where we can teach total beginners skills in electronics and robotics, with the hope of one day turning it into an electronics makerspace.
We need a logo for this, so I made one.
I wanted the logo to look playful and inviting while still having some link back to electronics. I had a play around incorporating different electronic components into the logo in figma, such as a breadboard and resistors. However, I chose an LED because it also symbolizes a smart idea.
Someone else on the team had the idea of using the LED for the "i," but when placed over the "n," it looked much more natural.
I thought it would be a good idea to use the LED as a light source to light up the other letters, while also adding some geometric shapes to balance it out.
Below, you can see the progression of the logo design as well as the final design. I also made an icon version for social media, etc.
